Central City Tunnel System

Landform conducted a traverse survey of the historic downtown Minneapolis Central City Storm Water Tunnel System, establishing a sub-surface control network and determining tunnel alignments.

Data gathered through this survey and a condition assessment was used by the Client develop conceptual designs for improvements to reduce flooding within this vital tunnel system.

Working approximately 70-feet below the streets of Minneapolis in tunnels constructed in the mid-1930s, Landform’s team undertook confined space training and coordinated with professional safety personnel to work efficiently in the challenging environment and insure safe air quality in the tunnels.
